Founded in 2011, members of Family Divorce Solutions work together to learn, practice, and promote Collaborative Practice for problem solving and the peaceful resolution of divorcing couples with an eye toward preserving the emotional health as well as the assets of the family. Its goal is to transform the resolution of divorcing couples through respectful, Collaborative processes that protect the integrity and health of family relationships and eliminate the need for families to resort to litigation. Family Divorce Solutions members also assist clients in civil matters through the Collaborative process.

Sacks is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified in Financial Forensics with 30 years of experience in the preparation of financial reports used to assist his clients in choosing their financial options which best suits their family through the Collaborative Divorce process. He is a member in good standing of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and California Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Sacks earned the Eureka Award in 2011 from Collaborative Practice California (CP Cal), bestowed annually to individuals who have made significant contributions and demonstrated their dedication to establishing and sustaining Collaborative Practice in California. In addition to his leadership of Family Divorce Solutions, Sacks is a board member and a past president of the Los Angeles Collaborative Family Law Association (LACFLA), and served as a board member and currently serves as a delegate for CP Cal. Sacks has shared his expertise through training interdisciplinary professionals in best practices for the Collaborative Process at state and local conferences since 2008.

“Being involved in Collaborative Practice represents a significant change in resolving clients transitioning through divorce,” said Sacks. “I have been involved as a financial professional (forensic accountant) in litigated divorces, and find that although litigation may be the correct process for certain clients, the Collaborative processes is almost always a more efficient, peaceful process for the clients and their families. The Collaborative Divorce process allows me, as a financial professional (financial neutral) to assist clients by allowing me to explain complicated financial information so it is understandable to them. By providing options to a couple, the couple can choose the options that best meets their family’s interests and helps them conclude their marital dissolution process as easily as possible.”

“My priority during my term as president is to find new methods of educating people about the possibilities of Collaborative Practice, and help them take the steps to amicably handle their conflicts including divorce in a healthier way,” Sacks said. “My commitment to the Collaborative Process has been at the center of my conscience since I was first trained in its principles in 2005. My drive to inform the public, other professionals, colleagues, family, and friends about Collaborative Practice has the end goal of sparing families and especially their children from the long lasting emotional harm of a litigated divorce.”
