Steven B. Garelick CPA/ABV/CFF, CVA
I have an ongoing commitment to the legal community serving as a pro bono court mediator at downtown Los Angeles Central District for the Los Angeles Superior Court Family Law CPA Mediation Program, and have been a guest speaker for the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, the Los Angeles Collaborative Family Law Association, the Los Angeles County Bar Association Family Law Section, and several study groups on family law matters.
I work collectively and cooperatively with fellow mediators, collaborators and litigation attorneys offering reports regarding income available for support, business valuation, MSOL analysis, tracing, reimbursements and other financial matters incidental to proceedings for dissolution of marriage.
My style of collaborative/mediation has me structure my process that allows me to assist my clients in reaching a mutually agreeable resolution. I ask questions; I validate and normalize the clients’ points of view; I search for interests underneath the positions taken; and I assist my clients in finding and analyzing options for resolution.
I want to ensure that clients come to agreements based on information and understanding. I want my clients to have awareness and knowledge on the financial decisions made, and welcome ideas and proposal suggestions from all participants.
