Angela Bissada, Psy.D.
Angela Bissada, Psy.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in children, adolescents and families. She earned her doctorate from the California School of Professional Psychology in 1995 with a Child-Family Clinical emphasis. The topic of her doctoral project was divorce.
Dr. Bissada completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and once licensed was hired on to develop a treatment program serving children and families who had experienced trauma. She created “Project Heal” and continued her work as director of this program for five years.
For the last 18 years, Dr. Bissada has been in private practice. She has developed extensive expertise in working with the children and families of divorce, specifically in the area of high-conflict divorce. Dr. Bissada recently spoke as an expert on the topic of high-conflict divorce for the video program “The Divorce Project” and has also made professional presentations on this important topic.
Through this work, Dr. Bissada has come to appreciate the unique challenges and hardships that face families in high-conflict cases. She has witnessed the emotional and financial toll that long court battles can impose on families. Dr. Bissada appreciates the value of the Collaborative Divorce process and its emphasis on collaboration, timely problem solving and the development of realistic solutions. A Collaborative Divorce also considers the needs of the children through the facilitation of a mutually agreeable, developmentally appropriate co-parenting plan. This plan helps to promote a realistic and cooperative co-parent relationship and allows the family to begin to look forward to a brighter future ahead.
